"Hot" days are slowly coming, gardeners are pruning, and lovers of vegetable crops begin the seedling season. Today we will talk about planting in February for seedlings of various crops - tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, leeks, onions, basil, celery and potatoes.
One of the most popular and not fastidious varieties - Batavia - refers to leafy, break-out type salads. Sometimes, however, Batavia is referred to as head lettuce.
These plants, as a rule, have a large rosette, wavy leaves, a semi-spreading bush. Basically, Batavia is represented by green-leaved varieties. But there are also varieties with red and reddish-brown leaves, their greens are more tender than green varieties.
Salads of this type are distinguished by a mild, slightly sweet taste. They are suitable for cutting into salads, form a good combination with vegetables, meat, fish, various sauces. Red-leaved varieties are used to decorate ready-made meals.
Batavia is quite resistant to a lack of light, high temperatures (no arrows). Its seeds can be sown in the ground at several times throughout the season.
