02 May 2014:

at 07:30 we took a minibus to our destinationMetlaoui, after an hour we were already in the station, where the Lezard Rouge, we bought the ticket, departure time 10: 30. We walked around the city center, buying water and halwa. After a while we went back to the station, today the station is celebrating, there were two local bands playing, camel to photograph, entertainers and of course many tourists waiting.

While we were there, the Lezard Rouge, a historic train of red and yellow stripe, which from there would take us to the Seljiafino gorges in Redeyef.

Once we took the seats on the train, our adventure began, of course the train was full, on board there were also the entertainers and the two bands, the carriages offer period luxury.

Leaving the station, you cross fantastic landscapes, you can see streams of dark water (residue of phosphates), palm trees, desert, all surrounded by the narrow walls of the canyon. In some places there are unlit galleries and here the group of animators takes over, who with songs try to distract the passengers from the dark, suddenly at the end of the gallery the light comes out and the spectacle that is seen is impressive. In some places the train stops and everyone down to photograph these gorges up close. After an hour of travel you arrive at Redeyef where there are phosphate deposits, a short stop and then return to Metaloui, along the same route.

Once in Metaloui, we thanked the animators for the great experience and returned by bus to Tozeur.
