Many gardeners who have acquired a new piece of land are concerned about one question: "What to do with such an area that is all overgrown with sod?"... Most experienced gardeners, without a moment's hesitation, will answer this question unequivocally - to dig. And they will also advise: whoever has a lot of land - use the technique in the form of a walk-behind tractor, and if it is not enough, take a shovel in hand and dig by hand.
Perhaps 10-15 years ago I would have done the same and agreed with them. Now I look at this problem differently. I try to apply methods and tillage techniques that allow me to put in the least effort and get the most out of it. And today I want to tell you about these simple techniques that are successfully used by the gardeners of the West, and now I, on my personal plot.
So we have a piece of land that is covered with turf... There may be a place for a garden, a vegetable garden, flower beds, an alpine slide or rockery, a reservoir ... Therefore, first make a rough plan of your site on paper (or right on the site). On it you must indicate all the buildings, as well as outline the places for the proposed planting of trees, berry and ornamental shrubs, beds for vegetable crops (if you want to have them), a lawn, a rock garden, etc.
After that, you should outline paths, paths along which it will be convenient to approach and care for your plants. Depending on your budget, you can make the paths grassy or tile them, but in either case, you need to not lose the fertile soil that is in the top layer of the earth.
In this case, it is necessary to remove a five-centimeter layer of soil along with the grass. It will be located in the places where the paths will pass. To do this, with a sharp knife, or better with a sickle, you outline the contours of the paths from both sides (along the width of the path), and then with the same sharp knife, lifting the edges of the top layer of soil, roll your grass mat into a roll. Then, in the same place, from the paths, shovel another 15 centimeters of soil.
You remove this layer, put it in those places where it is needed (this very fertile soil is suitable for preparing beds, and for creating rockeries or rock gardens).
If your paths are grassy, then you can now put the path you cut out in its original place. If you have a low area, then first add sand to the place of the excavated earth.
But now we begin to prepare places for your garden and vegetable garden. Where trees will grow, cut out circles of turf from 50 centimeters to one meter in diameter, as on paths. The size depends on how old your seedling is. The older the plant - the larger its root system - the larger the circle should be cut out. Use the sod from the circle to prepare the beds, as we described earlier (see. "How to prepare a garden for vegetable crops").
Loosen the soil inside the diameter with a pitchfork, remove excess roots (there should be few of them, here you will understand how long the sickle needs to be buried so that there are fewer roots). Now make a small indentation, add the fertilizer you are applying to the soil and plant a tree or bush. I use only organic matter, I replace nitrogen with legumes, which I sow around the bush, the rest of the seedling is provided by AVA, which contains all the necessary nutrients and, moreover, is applied once every 2-3 years. I think you have already figured out how to plant trees, bushes and turf beds.
Now about the colors. And it's even easier with them. For perennials, you also cut the turf. You choose the shape yourself (round, oval, triangle ...). By loosening the soil, you plant your flowers and, just like under trees and shrubs, you fold grass cuttings or other organic material, thereby mulching the soil. Sowing seeds of summer plants or planting their seedlings, you do the same as with perennials.
I hope that many people will like this approach to processing the site more than the traditional one. I wish you success. And let the work on the site be a rest for you!

Flowers and leaves are slightly different in composition, they contain malic and tartaric acids, caratonides, vitamin C, as well as organic and mineral salts. Decoctions and tinctures of coltsfoot are used as a disinfectant, anti-inflammatory or anti-allergic agent. Flowers are harvested in spring and leaves in June, then dried in dark and cool rooms. The preparations made from them are successfully used in cosmetology.
Gardeners and gardeners are well acquainted with this weed, the fight against it is constantly ongoing. When plowing or digging up the ground, the small roots of the coltsfoot sprout quickly, occupying the entire surrounding space. There are two ways to control this weed. The first of them consists in thorough cleaning of the earth when digging, while it is necessary to get rid of all the roots, remove even the smallest ones. During the spring and summer, it is recommended to periodically dig up the plant.
The second method of control is the use of a solution against weeds, for example, "Roundup". As soon as the first flower shoots appear, they are watered with a solution. When the grass turns yellow, this will happen in about 10-14 days, you can start digging and forming the beds.
Growing seedlings at home before transplanting them outdoors is a good way to get big yields, especially in areas where summers are short. But first you need to plant the seeds correctly.
Leek, onion and celery seeds can be sown into seedling boxes after pre-soaking. But the seeds of tomatoes, eggplant and bell pepper are recommended to germinate first. To do this, they need to be placed between layers of damp cloth at a temperature of 25 to 30 degrees. After pecking, the seeds are carefully transferred with tweezers to the seedling boxes. Thus, sowing of non-viable seeds can be avoided and the fastest germinating ones can be selected.
Seeds are sown in seed boxes in even rows. To mark the seed furrow, you can press the board into the ground with its edge. In this case, the distance between the wall of the box and the extreme groove should be one and a half to two cm, and the subsequent places at intervals take about 5 cm.Read more How to properly plant seeds for seedlings

Trees are effectively uprooted with the help of water. To do this, you also need to dig around the trunk, and then fill the resulting hole with liquid. For those who are looking for ways to quickly uproot trees on the site, this option will suit, provided that the soil has a sandy structure. If the soil is formed by heavy clay layers, then problems will arise both during the digging process and during the erosion of the earth. The operation is carried out as follows: with the help of a hose, the dug niche is filled with water, after which the earth on the roots becomes soft and makes it possible to easily pull out the tree. In any case, the liquid will wash away the surface layer and reveal the roots - if they cannot be pulled out immediately, then you can try to chop it up.
There are three ways to breed turf. The first of them - seed - is the most difficult. The second is the vegetative propagation method. Simply put, grafting. And the third - the most effective - is budding.
The seed method is considered not so much difficult as long. Sod seeds germinate within two to three years. And this, of course, is a pretty decent length of time. When the bone grows, a small triangular hole appears on it, from which the root first looks out, and only after that the kidney appears. Actually, a sprout.
There are several ways to accelerate the germination of planting material. The most effective of all the existing ones is described below.
Practice shows that such preliminary preparation is completed by 60% of seedlings. In this case, the sprouts do not appear after a couple of years, but after six months.
The easiest turf propagation method is layering. The process should begin in the autumn season. To do this, it is necessary to slightly loosen the soil around the bush and proceed according to the following algorithm.
... and budding
Budding is a method of reproduction of turf and other fruit plants by grafting with a single bud. This method is considered the most effective if you intend to propagate some particularly valuable plant variety. It is important to consider a few rules.
The first method is relatively easier, since here it is proposed to dig up the area manually, without removing the roots of the weeds. Another thing is that with this method you will not be able to sow a lot of things on the site for a long time. Cabbage and potatoes will come to the rescue. Cabbage is planted with seedlings, but as it grows, it will bring a powerful shadow from its leaves, like potatoes. This shadow will cover the ground and begin to suppress the growth of weeds. In addition, periodically it will be necessary to huddle the beds, which will also help destroy weeds.
For greater effect between rows, you can mulch with cut grass, manure or compost.
