The use of the fungicide topaz for powdery mildew and other diseases

If suddenly your garden or indoor plants are struck by powdery mildew or rust, then getting rid of pathogens will be quite difficult. To prevent the infection of the fungus from penetrating the foliage and stems, it is recommended to periodically perform plant prophylaxis with chemical agents, which include Topaz. This popular fungicide is able to protect the plant from fungal diseases and heal them. The main advantage of the chemical composition is its versatility - they use the product not only in the garden, but also indoors.

Composition and purpose of the drug Topaz

This fungicide belongs to the triazole class. The drug is recommended for processing vegetable and fruit crops, garden and indoor plants.

It is even used for:

  • currants;
  • gooseberry;
  • grapes;
  • cherries;
  • peach;
  • cucumbers and other crops.

Active substance and mechanism of action

The main element in the product is considered to be penconazole - a liquid concentrate of an average level of toxicity, which has a depressing effect on the development of the fungus, blocking the ingrowth of spores into plant tissue. The product does not create a film on the greenery of crops, but penetrates inside, moving along with the juices to the growth points. This means that Topaz is able to qualitatively protect not only foliage and stems, but also young shoots, even in bad weather conditions. The fungicide can be used from the beginning of spring to late autumn, when the temperature has already dropped to ten degrees below zero.

Advantages and Disadvantages Compared to Other Means

Topaz, unlike other drugs, is able to provide not only a preventive, but also a curative effect. Its main advantages include:

  • tall efficiency level, broad spectrum of action;
  • profitability, low consumption, reasonable cost;
  • complete safety for plants;
  • versatility applications;
  • sustainability to high humidity and low temperature conditions.

However, it is not considered an ideal option. The main substance of the drug is of synthetic origin, which has a detrimental effect on the environment. In addition, penconazole is considered to be a medium toxicity chemical, so when working with Topaz, you will have to comply with safety requirements.

Instructions for use

In order to rid the plant of the fungus that has appeared, without causing it any special harm, the instructions for using the product should be followed exactly. In open areas, processing should be carried out in calm and dry weather. Such conditions allow the poison to be absorbed into the plant and to influence dangerous pest spores with maximum intensity.

If it starts to rain three hours after your treatment, then you shouldn't worry - the agent has time to penetrate into the plant in full.

The next processing is carried out no earlier than a couple of weeks. If the fungus has strongly affected the plants, Topaz may no longer help them. It should be used when the first signs of the disease appear.

Preparation of a working solution to combat powdery mildew and other diseases

If processing is carried out with two-millimeter ampoules, then they should be diluted in a small amount of water. The solution should be thoroughly mixed, poured into a bucket filled with ten liters of water. If it is necessary to process the plants in the room, then the solution should be diluted by five liters, making it twice as saturated.

2 ml of the drug per 10 liters of water is enough for the treatment of dew, oidium, fruit rot. When fighting rust, the dosage should be doubled.

Gloves should be used when working with the drug. Be careful not to get the product in the eyes or on the skin. It is forbidden to smoke, drink and eat during work. After finishing spraying, wash your hands and face with soap and water.

After contact of the fungicide on the skin, it is urgent to rinse the area with running water. If the composition got into the digestive tract - drink a few glasses of water, provoke vomiting, take activated charcoal, see a doctor.

Compatibility with other drugs

Topaz combines well with other chemical compositions if they are similar in use. This feature allows it to be included in complex products that protect plants. By combining with another drug, Topaz is able to extend the duration of its action, to destroy more harmful parasites. It is even mixed with some formulations:

  • Horus;
  • Cuproxat;
  • Kinmix;
  • Topsin.

Storage conditions and shelf life

From the moment of release, the product retains its properties for four years. Store Topaz separately from food and medicines. The place should be dark, out of reach of children. Temperature range - from - 10 to + 35 degrees.

  • It is quickly absorbed by plant tissues, which eliminates the impact of external factors on its work.
  • Suitable for a wide range of garden, indoor and garden plants.

Recommended dosages

According to the instructions for use of the Topaz preparation, it can be used on almost all types of plants, however, treatments in the budding and flowering phase should be avoided. In addition, indoor flowers cannot be sprayed for prophylaxis: they are treated only with obvious signs of a disease.

Average consumption rates of the fungicide:

  • At the first signs of powdery mildew on vegetable plants (cucumbers, tomatoes, etc.), dissolve 1.5 ml of the drug in 10 liters of liquid and carry out four treatments at intervals of two weeks. For 10 m² of the site, you will need about 1 liter of therapeutic emulsion.
  • To prevent rot and powdery mildew on fruit trees, dilute 3 ml of the drug in a bucket of water. Processing is carried out twice - before and after flowering. Each mature tree requires at least 2 buckets of mortar.
Flutryvit can be used for prevention
  • According to the instructions for use of the fungicide Topaz for grapes, at the first signs of oidium damage, it is necessary to spray by making a solution of 3 ml of the drug and 10 liters of water. Preventive treatments are advisable after bud break and at the end of flowering. For 10 m² of soil, 1.5 liters of working fluid will be enough.
  • For the prevention and treatment of powdery mildew on fruit shrubs, dissolve 2 ml of the fungicide in a bucket of liquid and carry out 2-4 sprays - at the end of flowering and after harvesting. The consumption rate for each bush is 1-1.5 liters.
  • To get rid of fungal diseases on garden flowers, you need to spray them three times with a solution of 2 ml of Topaz diluted with ten liters of water. To combat rust, the dosage of the drug should be doubled. The first treatment is carried out when signs of illness are detected, the rest - with an interval of 15 days. Consumption of the finished solution - 1-1.5 liters per 10 m².
  • For indoor plants, 2 ml of the fungicide is dissolved in five liters of liquid. Spraying should be carried out only with obvious signs of the disease. To increase the effectiveness of the fungicide, all affected leaves should be removed first. As a rule, two treatments are sufficient to achieve a lasting result.

Topaz CE is a very effective tool that can quickly destroy pathogens and prevent their further spread. However, it should be remembered that the fungicide tends to accumulate in the soil, so it is undesirable to resort to it too often.

Fungicide analogs and compatibility with other drugs

The following drugs are considered similar in composition and principle of action:

  • "Trichodermin"
  • "Topsin M"
  • "Prestige".

Given that long-term use of the fungicide can lead to the development of fungal resistance, experienced gardeners recommend alternating the remedy with other drugs that differ in the principle of action. Strobi is compatible with the following insecticides and fungicides:

  • "BI-58 New"
  • "Fastak"
  • "Delan"
  • "Poliram"
  • "Cumulus DF".
